Treetops Specialist Resourced Provision Unit
Welcome to Treetops Specialist Resource Provision
Treetops Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) is based within Binley Woods Primary School and has been thoughtfully designed to provide a nurturing, supportive environment where children can feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. The provision includes two dedicated spaces, each designed to meet different aspects of pupils’ needs. The main classroom is used for structured teaching and learning, with individual workstations, a whole-class teaching area, small group tables, and resources that support a continuous provision approach. Alongside this, our Movement Room provides a flexible space where pupils can take movement breaks to support regulation and refocus on learning. It also includes a sensory corner, offering a calm and quiet area when children need time to relax and self-regulate. A small kitchen area is available for snack and lunchtime routines, providing a quieter and more relaxed environment for pupils who benefit from this support.
Treetops SRP supports children with communication and interaction needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). We aim to provide engaging, inclusive learning experiences that enable every child to participate, develop confidence, and achieve success. Teaching is delivered through a multisensory approach, helping pupils access learning in ways that suit their individual strengths and needs. Children’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets are at the heart of planning and provision, with opportunities throughout the day to develop and practise the skills identified within their individual outcomes. As part of this personalised approach, the amount of time pupils spend in their mainstream class is carefully tailored to their needs. Some children may benefit from accessing specific activities in the mainstream classroom for short periods with adult support, while others may join in with breaktimes and lunchtimes with their mainstream class. Throughout the day, children may learn within whole-class sessions, small groups, or through targeted 1:1 support, ensuring that learning remains meaningful, personalised, and inclusive.
At Treetops, we are committed to creating a communication-friendly environment that promotes understanding, independence, and confidence. Visual supports are embedded throughout the provision, with classroom areas clearly labelled using symbols and pictures, and instructions and learning materials supported by visuals, including InPrint 4 symbols. Makaton signs and visual cues are used alongside spoken language to enhance communication and support speech and language development. Clear, consistent routines help children feel secure and understand what is expected of them throughout the day. Adults play a key role in modelling language, introducing and reinforcing new vocabulary, encouraging children to ask questions, and demonstrating positive learning behaviours. Through these approaches, we strive to ensure that every pupil feels understood, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
